Farsley Celtic take on Gloucester City this weekend in the penultimate match of the season as the Celts fight for their survival.
It is another important weekend in the National League North as the business end of the season continues with plenty still to fight for in the final two matches at both ends of the table.
Saturday’s match is made even bigger for Farsley after the Celts suffered a 2-0 loss to relegation rivals Blyth Spartans on Tuesday night which saw the Northeast outfit move out of the relegation zone and above Russ Wilcox’s side.
The visitors head into the game in strong form and chasing a spot in the promotion play-offs, with no defeats in their last four matches and away wins against Southport and Telford.
Before those results, Gloucester recorded two impressive wins against Scarborough Athletic and Kettering Town, defeating both teams 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. This run of form means Gloucester occupy the final play-off spot in 7th.
Ahead of the game, Russ Wilcox provided his thoughts and said: “We must as a club stay positive and continue to give everything.
“Football, as we know, can change very quickly. There are still six massive points to play for so let’s go full out to hopefully achieve our goal.”
Speaking on the season as a whole, Russ said: “Whatever happens in these next two games, for me it’s been a very positive season overall.
“I remember when I arrived last February with the club struggling without a win in three months.
“I feel we have all brought belief back to the football club with some excellent signings and together with the players I inherited, we have a great togetherness as a group.”
