Bradford Park Avenue are the visitors to Throstle Nest as both sides step up their preparations ahead of next month’s start to the 2017/18 season, writes Thomas Ritchie.
The two sides last met in the semi-final of last season’s West Riding County Cup, Farsley upsetting their rivals with a 3-1 win before going on to lift the trophy with a penalty shoot-out victory over Tadcaster Albion.
The Celts have shown a steady improvement throughout pre-season, culminating in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Harrogate Town, with James Walshaw, Richard Marshall and Isaac Baldwin in the goals.
Walshaw has found the back of the net in every game so far this pre-season, continuing his excellent form that saw him hit fifty goals last term. Farsley were aided by the return of Graeme Mckibbin on Wednesday, who made his first appearance under new manager Adam Lakeland.
Bradford Park Avenue have busy in the transfer market as they look to improve on last season’s 16th placed finish in the National League North.
Nicky Clee, Steven Drench, Luca Havern, Wayne Brooksby and Javan Vidal have all joined the Horsfall Stadium outfit ahead of the 2017/18 campaign. Park Avenue are unbeaten so far in pre-season with victories against Campion (6-1), Bradford City (3-0), Albion Sports (3-1) and Ossett Town (1-0).
