Lewis Turner’s second half strike was enough to salvage a 1-1 draw on the East Coast as Farsley Celtic travelled to Bridlington Town for a pre-season friendly.
The hosts – who were bought by a green energy company earlier this week – took an early lead through a Curtis Morrison shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The visitors from National League North had the better of possession in the first half, but failed to create much until the stroke of half time when defender Rudy Misambo’s shot was blocked in the six-yard area.
Farsley changed their entire team at half time as they continued their policy of giving as many players as possible game time in pre-season.
The Celts had a chance to equalise when a cutback from Lewis Turner found Manny Mampala on the edge of the box. His first-time effort was hit hard and low but was straight at the keeper.
And on 69 minutes a first-time shot from Sam Leverett stung the hands of the Bridlington stopper following a period of Farsley pressure.
Lewis Turner deservedly equalised on 75 minutes when his effort from outside the area was deflected in.
Gaffer Clayton Donaldson will be pleased his players have gained more minutes to boost their fitness and to have continued their unbeaten pre-season campaign against tough opponents.
