Farsley Celtic hit SEVEN past Witton Albion

Farsley Celtic produced an astonishing performance as they defeated big spenders Witton Albion 7-0, writes Thomas Ritchie.

The Celts came racing out of the blocks as Paul Walker fired past Dominic Garner with a beauty from all of 30 yards to give Farsley the lead after 54 seconds.

With Witton struggling to get out of their own half, Farsley were looking to make their dominance pay and did so when Robbie O’Brien crossed for the returning Aiden Savory who tapped home from close range.

And the whirlwind opening quarter of an hour came to end when O’Brien was felled in the box, and Aaron Hardy stepped up to convert the penalty into the bottom left corner.

Celtic almost made it four when Lewis Nightingale’s free kick was headed just wide by Adam Clayton, who appeared to have had his shirt pulled.

Farsley weren’t settling for three and early in the second half Lewis Nightingale curled in a stunner from the edge of the box on the angle.

The relentless pressure continued and on the hour mark Neil Stevens was tripped in the box by Tom Schofield. Hardy stepped up and again converted into the bottom left corner.

Josh Grant then almost got on the scoresheet when he was played through by Aiden Savory, however his effort was well saved by Garner.

Witton then had their only clear cut opportunity when Farsley ‘keeper Tom Taylor gave the ball to Alex Titchener, but he made up for his error by racing out and gathering the ball off Titchener’s toes.

However, Farsley were soon back on the attack and made it six as substitute Kyle Hancock played in Aiden Savory who slotted home.

With time running out Paul Walker added the icing to the cake as he received the ball from Ross Daly, cut in and then slotted home to complete a night to remember.
