Stanningley: Memory Candles Workshop

February 19 @ 3:00 pm

A free memory candles workshop with Leeds Mind & Inkwell Arts has been arranged at Cup 19 Café in Stanningley.

The event will be held on Monday 19 February at 3pm, and is part of an ongoing community engagement programme by Full Circle Funerals, which is based at The Globe on Broad Lane, Bramley.

David Billington, of Full Circle Funerals, said: “Our bereavement support workshops are designed to be a safe space to respond to grief through creativity and they are suitable for complete beginners. All materials and tuition will be provided and we hope it will be a positive way to support wellbeing after loss.”

This is the second workshop Full Circle Funerals has facilitated at Cup 19, which is based on Bradford Road, and their first collaboration with Leeds Mind/Inkwell Arts.

During the workshop the group facilitator will demonstrate how to pour your own unique scented candles, adding colour and beautiful dried flowers as decoration if you wish.

Recycled glass jars are used to create candles, which can be decorated with ribbons and hand-written labels. Once fully dried, these candles can be lit in remembrance of a loved one.

All materials and tools needed for the workshop will be provided free of charge by Inkwell Arts and Full Circle Funerals as part of their ongoing efforts to increase the level of bereavement support in the local community.

Book a free place here.

WLD reported last year how a Farsley mum who lost her son to leukaemia has followed her dream to open Cup19 in his honour. The name Cup19 was chosen by Caroline Hardy in memory of her son Haris Hussain, who died aged 19 after a year-long fight against Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Haris was a promising young cricketer who had played for the Yorkshire under 16s.
