Light for Leeds: An Interfaith Week Event with Music

Join us for our annual gathering to mark Interfaith Week 2023 in the inspiring setting of the Gatehouse, Abbey House Museum, Kirkstall. Featuring representatives of both religious and non-religious beliefs and value systems, the day promises activities, music, and food, as well as chance for meditation and reflection.
Programme*
12 noon Opening: First Call to Prayer (Zuhr) and lighting of the World Peace Flame.
12:30pm Presentation: The Eco Saints.
1pm Flute recital. Guided meditative walk around the garden.
1.30pm Performance of Christian Carols.
2pm Cantor singing and talk on Mitzvah Day.
2:20pm A talk on the meaning of the Asr (Afternoon Call to Prayer)
2:30pm Hindu Prayer for Peace and devotional singing.
2.45pm Sikh prayer from the Guru Granth Shaib Ji, for world peace.
3:30pm-4:10pm Dusk walk (to Chapter House at Kirkstall Abbey)** and sunset Call to Prayer (Maghrib) at 4.06pm.
4.10pm approx. event ends.

** This will be a guided walk across the road from the museum to the Abbey grounds.
