Kirkstall Valley: Family Forest School Taster Day

Come and join us for a family Forest School taster day!
Forest School is a nature-based, child-centred inspirational learning process. It supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. Our session will be delivered by a qualified Forest School Leader from Leodis Forest School and supported by KVDT Staff and volunteers.
The activities are aimed at children aged between 7 and 11 years and parents/carers must attend with their children. We can accept younger and older siblings but not all activities will be suitable for them.
This is free for families entitled to benefits-related free school meals and a hot lunch will be provided on the day. There is a small charge per child for everyone else. Please bring your own packed lunches to enjoy on the farm. Hot drinks available at a small cost.
We are fully outdoors so please come dressed for the weather and muddy conditions!
We may have to cancel if the weather is too bad. We will email on the day if we do need to cancel.
Instructions
You access the farm by turning off the A65 at Ready Steady Store. You will see a path down to the river which leads to the farm entrance. There is NO PARKING at the farm. If possible, please walk to the farm. If you need to drive, you will find free parking on the streets on the opposite side of the A65. Please contact us beforehand if you need accessible parking.
It is working farm with uneven ground and often windy weather. Please come dressed in appropriate clothing.
There is currently no disabled access or baby changing facilities at the farm.
Drinking water is available but we ask that you bring your own water bottles.
