Hollybush: Heritage Open Day – Rhubarb Routes

September 15 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

Our next Sunday opening will be on 15th September when we’re throwing open our doors for Heritage Open Days. If you haven’t made it down to check out our new Leeds Civic Trust blue plaque to honour Joseph Whitwell this would be the perfect time!

Tying in with the Heritage Open Day theme of ‘Routes, networks and connections’, join us for a self-guided tour around Hollybush and learn more about the paths and waterways that helped Whitwell grow Hollybush Farm into such a success.  We are collecting stories and recollections of rhubarb growing in the Bramley and Kirkstall area, so would love to hear yours. We’re also collecting rhubarb recipes for a small publication next year, so if you knock up a mean rhubarb chutney, an irresistible upside-down cake or a knock-your-socks-off rhubarb wine please come along and tell us about it!

Visitors will be able to admire the new blue plaque in honour of Joseph Whitwell, explore Hollybush, which has been a thriving Conservation Centre since 1979, and enjoy rhubarb-themed treats in our community café.
