JOIN US IN REMEMBERING THE FORGOTTEN ARMY
…those valiant service personnel –from many countries – who fought in the Far East Campaign of World War II. We will be remembering with gratitude and sorrow all those who never came home. We will be remembering the fierce fighting in malaria-ridden jungles, we will be remembering the horrendous suffering of those taken as Prisoners of War, including those who were forced to work on the construction of the Burma Railway – also known as the Death Railway as so many thousands died. VJ Day was the end of all hostilities in the Second World War – the war was finally over.
The Fourteenth Army was Britain’s major fighting force in the Far East Campaign and was often called the Forgotten Army.
