Armley & Gotts Park: Lantern Parade

Armley & Gotts Park Lantern Parade is happening! We’ll be parading from Armley Park down Lantern Lane to Gotts Park on Sunday the 10th November.We’ll meet at the fountain in Armley Park, to collect lanterns made at the workshops, before parading down Lantern Lane for a story, then heading back up to parade though the darkness, food will be availble from the bowling club house before and after the parade.
The event will begin at 4pm, with the pay what you feel barbecue, and there will be a chance to collect the lanterns you made at the workshops. The parade itself won’t set off till 4:30pm as it’s just starting to get dark so the lanterns walk will begin in twilight and we’ll return as it’s dark, so we can see the beauty of the lanterns in the light and the dark.
There will be Nero’s Ices selling hot drinks and waffles, (NOT pay what you feel)
If you can bring a reusable hot drinks cup, it’ll save waste.
There will be more basic hot drinks in the bowling pavilion and access to toilets.
Please wear warm clothing and maybe have a torch in your pocket just in case.
1. Is there anywhere to park onsite?
No. This is a local event for people who live locally. If you are disabled and need access, please do get in touch.
(The few parking spaces that are by the park entrance will be reserved as disabled spaces)
2. Will there be food available?
Yes, we’ll be doing a Pay What You Feel barbecue.
3. Can children come alone?
No. The event ends when the park is dark, so children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
4. What about if it rains?
Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, we’ll only cancel/postpone the event if the forecast is extreme, please check our social media for updates.
