Farsley Celtic will continue their pre-season preparations as they travel to the Mitton Group Stadium on Saturday, to take on Eccleshill United, writes Thomas Ritchie.
The last time the two sides met was in the 2nd round of the West Riding County Cup in 2014 when The Celts emerged 5-2 victors. Adam Priestley and Marcus Edwards were both on the score sheet that evening, but will be on opposing teams come Saturday.
Farsley Celtic ushered in a new era last Saturday under new manager Adam Lakeland, however visitors York City were ultimately too good as they left Throstle Nest with a 4-1 victory.
James Walshaw, coming off a fifty goal season, bagged The Celts’ goal after linking up well with the returning Adam Priestley.
The major negative was the injury of Jordan Deacey, who went down clutching his knee without contact, and could be sidelined for some time.
Eccleshill will also be playing their second game of pre-season after opening up against Farsley’s divisional rivals Shaw Lane.
Eccleshill were comfortably defeated 6-1, with manager Sean Regan saying afterwards:
“We’ve done a lot of work off the pitch in pre-season but when you come to the real game they found it tough.”
The Eccleshill scorer last Saturday was Marcus Edwards, who many Farsley fans will remember after his stint at Throstle Nest.
Eccleshill could welcome Charlie Flaherty and Anil Singh back into the squad following injuries which forced them to miss the defeat to Shaw Lane.
The game will take place at the Mitton Group Stadium, postcode BD2 1PN. Kick-off is at 3pm with admission prices just £5 adults and £3 concessions. See you there!
