The latest batch of lane closures have been announced as work continues on the Dawsons Corner and Stanningley Bypass improvement scheme.
From Monday 12 January, overnight lane closures will be in place between 7pm and 5am for up to eight weeks
Closures on Bradford Road and surrounding areas will support drainage installation and the removal of several traffic islands on Bradford Road, Stanningley Bypass and Farsley Ring Road.
These works will enable construction of new footway and cycleway facilities, due to open in early summer 2026.
Yorkshire Water will also be carrying out works from Monday, 12 January (9.30am to 3.30pm) and again between both 19-23 and 26-28 January, which will require a 24/7 lane closure on Bradford Road (B6157), from the Dawsons Corner roundabout eastbound towards Stanningley. A signed diversion will be in place, including for HGVs, via the ring road.
Highways chiefs hope the £44.2m scheme will reduce congestion and delays, as well as improve air quality. Improvements will see better traffic flow, with bus journey times reduced and safer crossing facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.

It won’t reduce delays as the issue is that 2 lanes into 1 doesn’t go whatever the roundabout system you have in place.
Its a collosal waste of money and the delays we’ll all experience while this work goes on, will never be got back with any minute improvement to the flow through the roundabout/junction.
Think what Leeds Council could have spent the 1/3rd of this they are paying for, perhaps not having to sell off Pudsey civic hall, close libaries, add parkign fees for parks etc
Wth, u guys just stick to roundabout, never got a solution for the enormous traffic and making cycle lane which no one uses, if u pls go to Pakistan reconstruction programme by mariam nawaz, by passes for bus traffic been completed with in 3 months. U guys needs to visit Pakistan and find out how they take seriously about road. Public of leeds@bradford needs bypass on both armley gyratory and stanningly bypass. do not waste money on these roundabts.
