Councillors met in Pudsey yesterday to discuss several funding applications in the community – and approved an application to improve safety at Bramley Fall Park.
As previously reported by the WLD, members of the Outer West Community Committee held their latest meeting to discuss several projects in West Leeds.
Plans to install 20 sandstone boulders costing £2,622 at Bramley Fall Park were approved unanimously.
This was welcomed by Councillor Tom Hinchcliffe (Lab, Bramley & Stanningley) as the park had suffered “lot of previous anti-social behaviour” due to trespassers.
A grant of £2,900 to improve the footpath at Crimbles Road in Pudsey was also approved unanimously.
Pudsey youth and children’s activities – run by the Pudsey Community Project – received a £1,500 grant to replace cooking equipment for a cookery course for teenagers.
Pudsey Seniors’ Lunch Club was also granted £1,000. The club tackles isolation for the elderly. Councillor Dawn Seary (Cons, Pudsey) described the club as “worthwhile for your money”, with the lunch club catering to between 60 to 70 people.
An application for Basecamp Adventure Trust to support young people aged 12-14. Councillor Adrian McCluskey (Lab, Farnley & Wortley) argued that as “it only benefits six people, not the whole ward” and it would be too selective for its reach and so the application was refused.
Despite being funded before, a decision on West Leeds Activity Centre’s application for £3,600 to provide activities for young people was deferred after members requested further details.
Councillor Kate Haigh (Lab, Farnley & Wortley) said the application “doesn’t say which schools or areas would be affected” while Cllr McCluskey wanted to know how many children would be affected.
£1,600 was ringfenced by members for the annual Outer West Committee Youth Summit.
The next meeting will take place on 16 February, 2026 at 6pm, with the venue still to be determined.
The full agenda for the meeting can be found here.
The Outer West Community Committee is made up of 12 councillors from four wards: Bramley & Stanningley, Calverley & Farsley, Farnley & Wortley and Pudsey. It features seven Labour, three Conservative, one Green and one Reform councillor, along with community representatives.
