An application for a licence to sell alcohol at a shop in Armley will be heard by councillors next week.
Applicant Ranj Rashid Raja has applied for his Branch Road convenience store, off Town Street, to be able to sell alcohol to be drunk off premises daily between 9am and 11pm.
Police have made a qualified objection to the application on the grounds of preventing crime and disorder and public nuisance. They have said a CCTV camera needs to be installed and managed on the premises.
Cllr Alison Lowe has also objected, citing ‘the scourge of street drinking’ which she says already blights the Town Street area. She said the addition of another off-license would exacerbate existing problems.
Leeds City Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee will consider the application next Tuesday at Leeds Civic Hall, starting at 10am. You can read the public documents to be considered at the meeting here.
