The Armley community has come together to help raise a special festive smile from shoppers on Town Street.
Members of the Armley Yarn Bombers group have been busy producing knitted and crocheted decorations to spruce ups the main shopping area in Armley. Check out a slideshow of images below:
The yarn bombers posted on social media that there had been a lot of community involvement to make the decorations:
“Happy Christmas Armley! We hope they make you smile. Thanks to the students of Christ Church Upper Armley Primary School for the beautiful baubles they made!
“You’ll see them in the shop windows on Town Street – see how many you can find Thank you to all the people of Armley who contributed to this project by knitting and crocheting some of the items.”
The yarn bombers put up hand-made poppy displays on Town Street as an act of Remembrance last month.
They are working with Armley Action Team on these projects, which are being funded through the Welcome Back Fund which has been granted to Leeds City Council by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This funding supports the safe re-opening of the local economy, helping to make Leeds a welcoming and friendly place for visitors, residents and businesses.
Members Jo Brophy, Sarah Hutchinson, Judith Armitage, Elaine Wyatt and Gayle Beaumont helped hang up the decorations this week.
