Civic Trust supports Armley Gyratory electric vehicle charging hub plan

By John Baron

An influential civic watchdog has given its support to £3.3 million plans to build an ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hub at the site of a former gas holder off Armley Gyratory.

Leeds Civic Trust‘s planning committee have written to Leeds City Council to say they support plans at the New Wortley Gas Holder Site, off Wellington Road, which also include a shop, parking and landscaping.

A Leeds Civic Trust spokesperson said: “The planning committee supports this application for an electric vehicle charging facility and saw it as an effective use of land off the Armley Gyratory.

“They will ask the applicant to consider extending the provision of solar panels to the shop roof and that a fire safety assessment should be added to the application.”

The development would create 21.5 full time equivalent jobs on-site once the development is completed.

The site woulds be operated by EV charging company viewed in full here. Public comments close today (Thursday, 3 October).
