More than £1,500 was raised for charity thanks to people taking apart in this year’s Calverley Millennium Way walk.
The 8.5 mile walk was started as part of the year 2000 celebrations. It follows the route of what was known in medieval times as the ‘beating of the bounds’, which involved the children of the village walking the parish boundaries and stopping at intervals to strike the boundary stones with sticks.
This was the 21st walk – it missed for one year due to foot and mouth and three years for Covid.
This year there were 35 walkers and over £1,500 was raised for Worldwide Cancer Research.
More than £35,000 has been raised for various charities over 21 years.
