Calverley: Thousands raised towards sports and language at school

A raffle prize donated by Manning Stainton has helped raise hundreds of pounds for a West Leeds primary school.

The Pudsey and Horsforth branches of the estate agent joined forces to provide a Samsung Galaxy tablet for the Calverley C of E Primary School’s annual spring fayre, which was won by five-year-old Ruben Dinsdale.

The fayre raised more £7,000 with all the proceeds going towards sports and language resources.

Headteacher Bob Curran said the resources will be of great benefit to all the pupils. Mr Curran added:

“All the money we raise through the sterling efforts of the Friends of Calverley CE School and the generous support of parents, staff and community minded companies like Manning Stainton is used to enhance the learning experience of our wonderful pupils.

“Last year we used the money to create a new central library which has proved a tremendous addition to our facilities.”

John Putsman, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch in Pudsey, said:

“It was great to call into at the school and present Ruben with his prize. We also had the chance to see the amazing new library and witness first-hand how the money raised at last year’s event was spent.”
