Plans to demolish an extension which used to host a cafe at Marks and Spencer’s Owlcotes store in Pudsey have been approved by council planners.
The cafe area, which has relocated to downstairs in the store, will be replaced with 15 extra parking spaces for shoppers at the Owlcotes Centre.
A design statement accompanying the plans said: “There will be no impact to the operation of the existing cafe as this has ceased to operate from the single storey side extension and now operates from the larger café at basement level.
“The demolition of the projecting display window will not alter the store layout or access.”
There were no objections to the plans, which can be viewed in full here.
I am glad I got to see this the other week, before it’s gone forever!
Yes, we shall surely mourn such a piece of architectural beauty.
Norman and Stephen, I totally agree. We should all contact English Heritage and The National Trust. Future generations will never forgive us. LOL
