UPDATED: A man is due to appear in court today (12/9) charged with the murder of a man whose body was found in Burley Park, Leeds, a week ago.
The body of Polish national Waldek Mural, aged 57, was found in the park off Cardigan Lane shortly before 7am on Saturday, September 5.
Grzegorz Kowalczyk, aged 41, of Headingley, Leeds, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning.
ORIGINAL POST: Detectives in Leeds have renewed an appeal for information following the discovery of the body of a man in Burley Park on Saturday.
A post mortem examination established that 57-year-old Waldek Mural died as a result of multiple injuries to his body.
Two men arrested on suspicion of murder of Waldek Mural have been released without charge.
A 41-year-old male from the Leeds area has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Senior Investigating Officer, Chief Inspector Jim Dunkerley of the Homicide and Major Enquiry team said:
“We continue to appeal to anyone who believes they saw Mr Mural in the 12 hour period before his body was found in Burley Park to come forward.
“We know he was in the Town Street area of Armley the evening before and would urge anyone who was in that area to cast their minds back on whether they saw Mr Mural. We are also keen to hear from anyone who believes they saw him or who noticed any suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Burley Park.
“Any information, no matter how small it may seem in isolation, could be vital in helping us to trace Mr Mural’s last movements.”
Information can either be passed directly to the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via 101 or anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
