Bramley Mermaids launch ‘stay afloat’ fundraiser

A group of Bramley-based synchro-swimmers have launched an appeal to help keep them afloat.

The Bramley Mermaids met and rehearsed weekly at historic Bramley Baths up until lockdown back in mid-March.

Although the Baths re-opened in August – and recently temporarily closed again due to the second lockdown – the Mermaids have been unable to re-start their sessions. A spokesperson said:

“We are now seeking donations to help ensure the sustainability of Bramley Mermaids Club, support the upkeep of our beloved home at Bramley Baths which has been hit hard financially by lockdown, support our practice sessions and ensure we can share our performances in the future with the wider community.

“Your generosity and those of our supporters will help us stay afloat and ensure we can swim and create our routines in the water again and maintain our Mermaid community in its watery home in Bramley. Please do/give what you can to help us reach our target and stay afloat.”

Donations can be made here.

The Mermaids are also performing live over Zoom at the community-led Baths’ AGM next week.
