Ascendance dance captivates Headingley Stadium crowd

By Rebecca Hunter

As part of International Day of older people New Wortley’s fabulous Ascendance dance crew teamed up with all the other Ascendance squads to dazzle the crowd with a spectacular cabaret show at Headingley Stadium.

30 dancers joined forces from Wortley Waltzers, Morley Movers, Leeds Rhinos Foundation Group and Fuse Dance Collective.

Regular Ascendance member Helen Strickland was delighted to meet all the other Ascendance groups to put on a joint show, while Bill Stevens said he was a newcomer to the group and didn’t know what to expect: “But it was great, everyone was joining in”.

The rest of the dance team agreed it was a positive experience with good audience participation.

Ascendance Dance Class is on every Thursday at New Wortley Community Centre 10am-11am. Come along to have fun, meet new friends and keep fit in a welcoming environment. All abilities are welcome and no previous dance experience is required.
