Residents and shoppers are being offered some festive cheer in Armley in the countdown to Christmas.
Over the past few weeks the City Mission’s ‘Yuletide Pop Up Charity Shop’ has been attracting a wide range of shoppers on the look out for a bargain and items suitable for gifts to give on Christmas Day.
The City Mission has amassed a wide range of gifts and items for sale suitable for gifts and presents. These are being offered at bargain prices with something for everyone and catering for a wide range of tastes and preferences.
They have also acquired some 2026 diaries, which they are making available for just 50p each. They are A6 in size, have beautiful colour photographs and can easily slip into a handbag or pocket.
Leeds City Mission Coordinator Andy Dalton said: “These diaries are suitable for making a note of appointments, birthdays and other key calendar events and we are making them available at less than cost price.
“Visitors can enjoy the opportunity to pick up some last minute presents for Christmas. And if they want – enjoy singing some Christmas carols and taste some sumptuous seasonal refreshment.s”
The City Mission are also organising a Shoppers Short Seasonal Carol Service next Tuesday, 16 December at 11am. This will be in their Compassion Centre in Mistress Lane.
This will last about 45 minutes and will include traditional carols, readings, poems and a Christmas reflection for the season. It will conclude with some seasonal refreshments. People will be helped to connect with the reason for the season.
Volunteers at the City Mission are still giving away free Christmas gift tags lovingly created from old Christmas cards. Manager Sinclair Martin said: “We still have hundreds of these gift tags to give away. Anyone is welcome to visit us and take as many as they want.”
