Christmas is usually a time for family and friends and is normally a month of celebration at Armley Helping Hands, a support organisation for older people in Armley and Wortley.
Due to Coronavirus, this year will be different for many older people due to the Cotonavirus pandemic.
So staff and volunteers at Armley Helping Hands (AHH) are looking to raise funds to buy Christmas gift boxes that will be delivered on Christmas day to the most frail and isolated older people in Armley and Wortley.
AHH chief executive Dawn Newsome said:
“This year will be more lonely than ever due to the pandemic, and this is why we are asking you to help us make a real difference by helping to reduce loneliness for older people.
“We want you to share your Christmas spirit this year by showing our older people living in Armley and Wortley that the community are thinking of them during the festive period.
“Our ambition is to raise funds to buy Christmas gift boxes that will be delivered on Christmas day by our staff and volunteer team to our most frail and isolated older people. Our aim is to bring some extra festive cheer and a familiar face to their doorstep on this festive day.”
Donations towards the gift boxes can be made here.
