Christ Church in Upper Armley is inviting local residents to join is a special ‘messy church’ event with a seaside theme.
Messy church is open to people of all ages and includes crafts, sharing a meal and a fun celebration. It runs every third Saturday of the month at Christ Church between 3-5pm.
Church-goer Joanne Brophy said the church was a relaxed, diverse and multi-cultural place for the whole community:
“We run a lot of groups at church, it’s a way of building up community spirit and encouraging people not to be afraid of the church.”
The church runs a number of events. These include:
Rainbows runs for girls aged five to seven years old each Thursday, 5-6pm during term time. Brownies, for girls aged seven to ten years, runs the same day, 6-7.15pm, during term-time. Guides runs the same evening, from 7.30pm.
Pray and play runs Friday mornings during term time, from 10am-11.30am.
The Christ Church Upper Armley Youth Project (CCAYP) runs a variety of groups.
On Tuesdays there is a junior youthy for eight to 11 years from 3.15-4.45pm and a girls group for 11-16 year olds from 5.30pm.
On Wednesdays, there’s a drop in for 11-13 year olds between 5-6.30pm and a youthy from 7.30pm for 14 to 18 year olds.
