Businesses on Armley Town Street got into the community spirit when they responded to a call from All Together Armley to add a splash of colour to the area.
From hanging baskets to vases, Town Street traders came out in bloom for a competition to encourage businesses to improve the look of the area.
The eventual winner of the competition was Armley Moor Pharmacy. Shop assistant Samina Yousaf (pictured above) said:
“We see ourselves as a part of the Town Street community and the Armley community in general, we want to help make town street a better and brighter place.”
Other notable contributions came from The Post Office, The Leeds Building Society, Cakecraft and Brooklands Estate Agents.
All Together Armley deputy chairman Glenn Broadbent said:
“A stall asking for support for the group’s bid for funding for hanging baskets on Town Street lamp posts next year did brisk business, with more than 100 signatures collected in just over two hours.”
All Together Armley is made up of a group of local residents who aim to make Armley a better place.
Armley Common Right Trust in Moor Top Park
Armley residents benefited from hanging baskets at a special annual event in Moor Top Park this weekend. The baskets were free but you could offer a donation if you wanted/were able.
The trustees of voluntary group Armley Common Right Trust set up the little moor with bags of soil, pot plants, hanging baskets for residents of Armley to come make their own.
