Armistice Day: Rachel Reeves MP lays wreath at Bramley War Memorial

Bramley War Memorial is one of the few that commemorates the fallen on both Armistice Day (always the 11th) and Remembrance Sunday (the nearest, this year 10 November).

2024 being a leap year prevented both being on the same day. Ivor Hughes was there today (Monday) with his camera.

Reverend Lottie Jones of St Thomas’, Stanningley, introduced the ceremony.
Christ the King was one of the schools attending.
Cllr Adele Rae welcomed visitors and gave the closing thanks.
Revd Paul Greenin of Bramley Baptist Church.
Paul Smith from Bramley laid a wreath on behalf of local veterans. The medals on his right breast are those of his grandfather (WWI) and father (WWII). And, yes, he is well aware of the fact that the friend who mounted them had no idea of the correct orders of wear.
Bramley veteran Andy Hulme (Royal Military Police) reading the Exhortation (the dedication to the fallen which precedes the Last Post).
The service included the Epitaph from Kohima, a short dedication to the fallen during a bitter close-handed battle on the India/Burma border.
