It’s a dog’s life! Volunteers at the Leeds City Mission Compassion Centre in Mistress Lane Armley have been extending their reach to care for canine friends in need in recent weeks.
The LCM premises, next to Town Street in Armley, experiences a high volume of footfall as people make their way to the shops or walk on the surrounding grassed area.
Staff and volunteers have noted the number of dog walkers with their pets as they pass the front door.
Every day City Mission volunteers have been placing a dog water bowl by the front door of the Compassion Centre as the summer drought begins to impact and the heat takes its toll open dogs. Its refreshing contents have been lapped up thirsty pets – much to the appreciation of their owners.

Dog owner Lee Hallas expressed his appreciation. He calls at the centre from time to time to access the foodbank. He said that providing some water helped his pet dog Leo endure the stifling heat which has been the typical weather in the last few days
