Sports commentator and television personality Sid Waddell was the subject of a short film on The One Show on BBC One.
Sid, from Pudsey, was nicknamed the ‘Voice of Darts’ due to his fame as a darts commentator. He worked for Granada, Yorkshire, BBC, and Sky Sports television.
His son, former Crawshaw High School pupil Danny Waddell, appeared on the show to talk about his famous dad, who passed away in 2012.

Sid was well known for his infamous quotes, which included:
“The atmosphere is so tense, if Elvis walked in with a portion of chips, you could hear the vinegar sizzle on them.”
and
“He’s as happy as a penguin in a microwave.”
