Pudsey Bear popped into the Pudsey Leisure Centre where the team was hosting the latest Pudsey 2p Challenge.
The event was the sixth one of its kind. The aim was to cover a giant Pudsey Bear with 2p coins, and raise money for BBC Children in Need.
There was face painting, giant party games, opportunities to take selfies and a lot more.
After a quiet start, by 5pm the hall was buzzing and Pudsey Bear was beginning to be covered.
Event organiser Councillor Dawn Seary (Cons, Pudsey) said: “In a cashless world coins were becoming difficult to obtain. People had been going to banks hoping to obtain them, but the banks are unable to take notes in exchange for coins.”
Despite this problem of the lack of coins, by the end of the evening amazing volunteers had counted £3,236.43.
Thanks go to:
- Oh Hello Studio for the ‘Paint your own Pudsey Bear’ run by Dawn Seary
- Debra Austin – face painting
- Breeze Leeds for the giant party games.
- Farmac Building Supplies for transportation of the coins.
Dawn Seary added: “People will start saving for next year from tomorrow. It’s become a thing.”
There is still a collection bucket at Pudsey Leisure Centre.
