Children at Armley Primary School have been shortlisted for a top award celebrating land art on the route of the 2018 Tour De Yorkshire.

The land art project was based on a football pitch in Armley Park, next to the route of the cycle race, and saw pupils spell out the name ‘Armley’.

The piece, which included moving human bicycle cogs, was also put together by cyclist and artist Tim Curtis.

Armley is up against 11 other pieces of land art in this year’s Welcome to Yorkshire Land Art competition. Other nominees include Ackworth, Barnsley, Howden and Thirsk, among others.

  1. So they were bike cogs! I wondered what the children were carrying, when I watched it on the day. They look like bones. Well done to them though for the short-listing.
