Kirkstall clean-up brings in the river rubbish

Question: What have four trolleys, a sofa and a bike got in common?

Answer: They were all found at a volunteer-led clean-up of the River Aire in Kirkstall yesterday!

The clean-up, led by members of local community group Team Kirkstall, also managed to fill 20 bin bags of rubbish down by the riverbank.

A number of fortnightly riverbank cleanups are planned over the summer months by Team Kirkstall. More details in the poster below:

Much of the rubbish cleared is a product of the Boxing Day floods, which left parts of Kirkstall under several feet of water, and flytipping.
