The OFSTED report for Swallow Hill Community College was formally published on 11th January 2017, writes Melinda Rudge-Priestley.

The report shows that the academy has moved from ‘inadequate’ to ‘requires improvement’. This is a positive step forward for the children of Armley.

The OFSTED report comments on the positive links that are developing between the academy and local groups ‘All Together Armley’ and ‘Armley Helping Hands’.

The report gives clear guidance on the areas that need to be developed by the academy team, it notes the support that has been given to the academy by the Academies Enterprise Trust and the support they are receiving from Rodillian Multi Academy Trust.

The OFSTED team visited the academy in November last year and spent time observing lessons, meeting with senior leaders, speaking to students in each year group and considering the responses from parents/carers to the questionnaires.

Moving from ‘inadequate’ to ‘requires improvement’ now places Swallow Hill in the same category as Grangefield School, Pudsey.
