Plans to build a temporary building holding two new classrooms have been submitted by Pudsey Greenside Primary School.

Planners say the temporary teaching facility will be required for a minimum of seven years to manage a one-year increased intake of pupils.

Greenside Primary School increased to a two-form entry school in September 2017. But in the
past two years the demand has changed and the pressure on school places across Pudsey has shifted and admission numbers have fallen.

A design statement submitted with the application said the temporary building would be 3.5-metres high to minimise the impact on neighbouring properties on New Street:

“This option provides the most manageable solution for the school both in terms of security and the curriculum needs of the primary school. The temporary teaching facility will be based within the school’s boundary wall and secure line.”

The application, which include fencing and a hard play surface, comes just four months after Leeds City Council scrapped proposals to permanently expand the school.

In July 2017 The Dispatch also reported how the plans could leave Leeds City Council with a bill £1.8 million higher than originally expected, at around £4.3 million.

And in June we reported how more than 40 local residents had objected to proposals for a multi-use games area on green space on the reorganised site.
