Police have arrested a man who was subject to a massive police manhunt in Farnley last Friday.

Daniel Brown, aged 22, escaped from police custody while at hospital in Leeds two weeks ago.

He was arrested in Wakefield last night and is currently in custody.

A 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of Leeds District CID, said:

“Brown was arrested as a direct result of information from the public following our previous appeal and we are very grateful for that assistance.”

Several schools in the Farnley and Lower Wortley area went into lockdown last week when a number of officers searched around the former Beulah pub, Farnley fishpond and Butt Lane areas.
