The popular annual family fun day – “Summer’s Day” – will remember a girl who passed away aged just two years old, writes Judith Hurd.
The event is being held on Sunday August 11th, 2019, at New Farnley Community Centre on Low Moor Side in memory of little Summer Rose Thompson, who passed away in November 2017 after fighting a very brave battle against acute myeloid leukaemia.
There will be lots to do on the day, including getting yourself that long-desired glitter tattoo, and being able to buy wet sponges to lob at various stoic individuals in the stocks.
Other fair games, stalls, raffles, and inflatables will be there to tempt you as well, with plenty to keep little ones amused.
The ‘Walk of Pain’ will be making its debut for those bold enough to attempt it, and also this year there will be falconry where people can hold the various birds and have photographs taken with them.
Refreshments will be available to purchase at various stalls around the centre.
All proceeds made on the day will be split between two charities who have given such valuable support to the Thompson family – Candlelighters & the Noonan Syndrome Association.
