Open Source Arts is opening its doors for live music nights as a gig venue and part of the growing music scene in Leeds, starting on 15th November with a folk night, writes Hannah Burgess.

Situated in the heart Kirkstall Road, opposite ITV studios, the amazingly diverse arts space will host an array of live music sessions starting with the wonderful local folk bands Feathers Mcgraw and The Old Time Rags.

While the space has been host to open stage nights and music workshops they are excited to launch the space as a gig venue, alongside everything else they already offer including circus, dance, yoga and practical workshops and beyond.

Feathers McGraw were recently nominated for the Outstanding Emerging Artist award in the Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards 2018.

Alongside them we will have The Old Time Rags who have spent the year gigging far and wide, from steam rallies to street corners and renowned festival stages all the way from Yorkshire to New Zealand! You may even have caught them here at Open Source Arts, where they went down a storm as one of our featured acts at the Solstice Open Stage.

Phil Marken, Open Source Arts’ director, said:

“We are incredibly excited to launch our upcoming music sessions, as our urban and cosy warehouse space lends itself to wonderfully intimate gigs.

“I can’t wait for Feathers Mcgraw and The Old Time Rags, and all the future music bookings we have in store, to bring their immense foot-stomping energy to our space.”

The Feathers Mcgraw and The Old Time Rags concert is a part of a packed programme over Autumn and Winter at Open Source Arts, which you can explore over on their website.

Feathers Mcgraw and The Old Time Rags concert is on the 15th November at 7pm. Tickets will be £6 (book in advance via their website, some tickets will be available on the door) and drinks and nibbles will be available from the cafe/bar.
