Kirkstall Valley: Meeting discusses zero carbon and climate friendly communities

A meeting will discuss how we can work together to create healthier, more prosperous, low carbon and climate resilient communities – with a focus on the Kirkstall Valley.

Local group the Kirkstall Valley Development Trust are one of the organisations holding the event, which will see half the tickets reserved for people who live or work in Armley, Bramley, Burley or Kirkstall.

It will examine we can share knowledge between communities, businesses, education and agencies to develop the Kirkstall Valley into a leading light for climate and community sustainability.

The meeting will be chaired by Paul Chatterton, professor of Urban Futures, co-founder of LILAC Housing in Bramley and a director of Kirkstall Valley Development Trust (KVDT).

The event will be hosted by Open Source Arts, a social business based in Kirkstall Road, which works diversely to develop creative communities which care deeply about and act in benefit of the places, environments and ecosystems they live in.

Raising Ambition: Exploring zero carbon, socially-just transitions in Britain, Yorkshire and the Kirkstall Valley will be held at Open Source Arts 1A Aire Place Mills Road, Kirkstall Road on Wednesday, February 6 from 6pm.

The event is run by University of Leeds, KVDT, Open Source Arts, Leeds Climate Commission, Zero Carbon Yorkshire, Common Ground Leeds and Leeds Love It, Share It.
