Kirkstall youngsters have joined the fight against dog fouling by designing a series of eye-catching posters warning about the perils of dog mess.

The innovative designs are the handiwork of children from Kirkstall Valley Primary School.

Local councillors Fiona Venner, John Illingworth and Lucinda Yeadon have been campaigning against dog fouling in the Kirkstall area and have given some of their MICE money to support turning the winning posters into metallic signs to be displayed in the streets around the school.

Cllr Venner (Labour, Kirkstall) said:

“It is really important that we get this message about keeping our streets clear of dog mess across to kids. Having seen first-hand some of the responses to this campaign I know that we are having an impact!
“The children have responded to this exciting project with a range of creative designs and it will be great for them to see their work decorating the local area.”

The council’s environmental enforcement team and the Burley Village Community Association have also been campaigning to tackle dog fouling problems in the area.
