A date has finally been set for a crunch meeting over calls for more train services at Kirkstall Forge Station.

As reported on Sunday, Leeds West MP Rachel Reeves had been waiting since November for a meeting with Government ministers over the lack of trains stopping at Kirkstall Forge Station, which opened in 2016.

A meeting with Rail Minister MP Jo Johnson has been scheduled for 31st January.

Ms Reeves told The Dispatch:

“I am very pleased that the Minister has agreed to meet me, I will be putting forward the strong case based on passenger numbers to increase the numbers of trains stopping at Kirkstall Forge.”

The Leeds West MP is also due to have a meeting on 2 February with David Brown, who is head of Northern Rail. Representatives from Kirkstall Forge developer CEG, as well as Leeds City Council chief executive Tom Riordan and West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s transport chair Cllr Keith Wakefield will be at the meeting.

Kirkstall Forge Station is part of the multi-million pound Kirkstall Forge development. It exceeded its initial projected annual passenger numbers in its first five months.
