How Sophie aims to bring people together at new Bramley dance fusion class

By Catriona Mossop

Sophie Simpson is starting a new dance fusion class on Wednesday, 7 October at Bramley Community Centre.

She already runs a popular dance class on a Monday morning at Bramley Community Centre. This is in association with Bramley Baths.

She was “head hunted” by the team at Bramley Baths to replace Jennie Willetts, who was promoted Business Development manager at Baths. Jennie had a strong following but Sophie has taken the class and made it her own, she has shaped the class to meet the exercise needs of the individuals.

Sophie is a highly qualified professional. She has a degree in choreography performance and education, but her passion is promoting health and wellbeing through dance.

She is well known for her innovative work in the community throughout Leeds. Her aim is to make dance more accessible.

She said: “Once you start it’s surprising how much you can actually do. I believe in inspiring people’s well being and confidence through dance.”

Sophie would welcome anyone who is interested in trying something new. She hopes the class will become its own little community, bringing people together.

The Bramley Community Centre sessions starting on Wednesday, 7 October will run from 9.30am to 10.30am. Book by calling 07748 396070 or e-mail SSdancewellbeing@outlook.com. You can find more information about Sophie’s classes on her website.
