Local residents are being asked their opinions on plans to increase primary school places in the Pudsey and Swinnow area to meet an increase in demand.

Leeds City Council wants to expand Park Spring Primary School from one and a half forms of entry (45 places in reception) to two forms of entry (60 places in reception) from September 2017.

Pressure on school places in Leeds has been fuelled by a booming birth rate in recent years and an influx of new residents to the city, leading to a shortfall in some areas.

You can take part in the consultation online.

The consultation will run until Friday 3 July at 4pm and during this time there will be drop-in sessions at the school where you can have your say or find out more.

The drop-in sessions will be held at Park Spring Primary School in the school hall as follows:

  • Tuesday 16 June 2015 – 8.30am to 10am
  • Thursday 18 June 2015 – 2.30pm to 4pm
  • Thursday 18 June 2015 – 5.30pm to 7pm

The council’s decision-making Executive Board has already rubber stamped proposals for Broadgate Primary School in Bramley to increase the capacity of the school from 210 to 420 places, by increasing the admission number from 30 to 60 with effect from September 2015.

Councillors have already approved  proposals to Farsley Westroyd Infant and Nursery School and Farsley Springbank Junior School – changing both schools into primary schools to create an extra 30 primary school places in Farsley.

Hollybush Primary School in Kirkstall will change from two form entry (60 places per year group) to three form entry (90 places per year group), with effect from September 2016, and Castleton Primary School in Armley will expand from one form entry (30 places per year group) to two form entry (60 places per year group)  from September 2016.
