Teaching Children about the Colour Green – Art Exhibition by Edek Thompson
February 1 - February 19Free
Join us at Left Bank for our second art exhibition of the year featuring artist Edek Thompson. Edek’ exhibition ‘Teaching Children about the Colour Green’ will showcase a selection of works within our our porch gallery from the 1st to the 19th of February 2023.
Edek Thompson is a Leeds based artist, local to LS6, who paints the apocalypse one dog, pigeon or crow at a time. Creating fun and disturbing images of a future ravaged by climate change, Edek imagines a world full of mutations and strange adaptations, where duck feet and waterproofs will aid survival, and future generations battle for resources riding on the backs of giant crows.
Edek uses found and donated materials, household emulsions rescued from landfill and charity shop frames to make his work. Using these materials and working from reference photos that he has taken himself, Edek hopes his creations can help to spread a little joy and optimism at the end of the world.
Join us on Wednesday 1st of February during our Creative Wednesday event (6pm-late) for the exhibition launch and the opportunity to meet and chat to Edek about his work.
This exhibition is free, pop in anytime for some art, coffee and maybe a spot of lunch!
The Cafe is open Monday-Friday, 9-5 and Weekends 11-4. If you are planning on coming to see the exhibition please be aware that we are sometimes closed for private events on weekends. Please check ahead via our website to see our when we will be open to the public!
