Venue: Left Bank, Cardigan Road, Leeds LS6 1LJ
This August we are welcoming a new workshop to Left Bank, hosted by the amazing Concrete Youth for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
Sensory Storybook is Concrete Youth’s flagship sensory story programme. Concrete Youth’s multi-sensory specialists will deliver an original sensory story for a group of people labelled with PMLD. The session is free of charge to book, however we do ask for donations for those able to contribute to the sessions.
Sensory Storybook uses sensory play to heighten the immersive storytelling experience of the participants. Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates senses of touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing, as well as anything which engages movement and balance. During the Sensory Storybook session, our facilitators will deliver an original story and offer participants a sensory item for them to explore that corresponds to a particular part of the story. The story session will be followed by a craft activity that supports the narrative of the story.
Concrete Youth is a trailblazing charity, touring exceptional and inclusive sensory theatre for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities throughout the UK. Their touring department has engaged over 4,500 people with profound and multiple learning disabilities across 5 continents since its launch in 2019.
Please book one ticket per participant, carers do not need to book a space although we do ask that each participant is with no more than two carers each.
Our Café Bar will be open through out the session for refreshments and food. All are welcome to use our Café space if you fancy sticking round for a spot of lunch! Check out our PAYF option!
Our building is wheelchair accessible with a small short ramp in the entrance. Parts of our building are not wheelchair accessible, however the workshop and plenty of our Café floor will be. We do not have an indoor disabled toilet, however our grounds outside will have a single toilet with disability access .
We have two parking spaces onsite, these are reserved disabled parking spots. Please email email@example.com to book a spot prior to arrival. There is also plenty of on street parking in the surrounding area
