Where and when can we play table tennis?
Front of St Stephen's Church hall

ParkyPING! table tennis sessions are at St Stephen’s Church Hall, Kirkstall, an accessible building close to several bus routes.
They take place from 1.30-3.00, on the 1st and 3rd Mondays and 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month (except bank holidays). But these dates can change – it’s always worth checking our calendar, which you can see on every page of this site.

Who is it for?

Leeds ParkyPING! sessions are for anyone living with Parkinson’s, whatever your age, whatever your table tennis ability. Partners or carers are very welcome – we hope it’s a good place to meet and chat with others – though people with Parkinson’s have priority to play.

What happens in a session?

At most sessions you can expect a mixture of relaxed play, and more competitive play, according to what you want to do. There will also be opportunities for a different kind of exercise, through umpiring and scoring.

Everyone is happy to share tips, and we also have professional coaching: every third Monday session, the first hour is led by Peter (of Pingpong4u), and every third Tuesday by George. They both introduce a range of table tennis activities for physical and mental exercise, stimulation and fun.

Time permitting, we may finish the sessions with a ParkyPING! Challenge.

We want people to take part in Leeds ParkyPING! sessions on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis. That doesn’t mean free, (unless you really can’t afford anything). We pay for the venue, our facilitator, tables, equipment and a few other things. We have received funding and some donations that cover a lot of this. But we want to make sure that Leeds ParkyPING! is sustainable in the longer term.

We ask that you consider what you would pay for a 1.5 hour session commercially or at a local leisure centre, and that you also consider your own resources and tax bracket. Then it’s up to you. Nobody will ask or check what you pay.

From time to time we will review how ‘pay as you feel’ is working.
