If you have visited our current exhibition For the Love of Textiles, you will have seen the breath taking centrepiece of ‘the Collection’ – a series of dresses, outfits and other textiles loaned to us by friends and local organisations.
As part of the exhibition, we were keen to showcase precious textiles from a range of cultures and traditions, so are thrilled to feature wedding and bridesmaid dresses from a local Traveller family.
Thank you to Leeds Gypsy and Traveller Exchange ( Leeds GATE )for facilitating the loan of these dresses!
We are honoured to exhibit these dresses in the Gallery and to display them as the important cultural artifacts that they are, with the dignity they deserve.
For the Love of Textiles runs in the Gallery until 28th June.
