Calverley: Easter Vigil

The Easter Vigil is the first service of Easter, and our vigil begins outside at 6:15am. It begins with a symbolic expectant waiting (outdoors around a fire watching the sun rise across the valley) for the resurrection of Jesus on Easter morning, and this is represented visually by our large Easter, or Paschal candle, which is lit from the fire and brought into a darkened church.
