Villagers in Calverley are being encouraged to have their say on what traffic calming measures they would like to see introduced down the notorious Woodhall Road.

As previously reported, campaigners have been fighting to get the speed of traffic reduced on Woodhall Road, Calverley, and last month submitted a petition with more than 350 names on it to Leeds City Council chief executive Tom Riordan.

The road currently has a speed limit of 30 miles an hour but villagers are calling for further measures to reduce speed in the area.

Campaigners have now put together an online poll – which can be found here – to check people’s preferences on what measures, if any, could be installed.

Representatives from the road safety campaign are due to meet the council’s highways department to discuss options for the road, which has long suffered from speeding traffic.

A post on the group’s Facebook page said:

“We will be meeting with a representative of the highways department in the coming weeks. The aim of the meeting will be to give them a first hand perspective of the issues we’re currently facing on the road, i.e. speeding motorists and dangerous driving on the road. We will also try to gain information on what the options are for combating these issues. We will keep you posted on the outcome of the meeting in due course.”
