The annual scarecrow festival in Calverley promises to be bigger than ever as local residents vote for their ‘crop idol’.

Calverley Scarecrow Festival runs this year from the 8 until 16 August and the aim of the event is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to get together and share fun.

Families, individuals and businesses and organisations  are encouraged to enter a scarecrow for a competition that will be voted for by the public (Crop Idol).

A map of where the scarecrows are located will be produced to enable people to follow a “crow trail”. The map will be available from Calverley Post Office, Calverley News and Calverley Library.

You can vote online for your “crop idol” at the Creative Calverley website. Votes are also taken at Calverley News and Calverley Best One.

Maps cost £1 each and monies raised go towards printing and publicity costs for the community event, which is run by volunteers. Absolutely no profit is made.

Entry forms are available to download from http://www.creativecalverley.co.uk/Scarecrow-Festival.html.
