Bramley will soon be brimming with bicycles after the opening of the new Bramley Community Hub bike library this week.

The bike library is the eighth of its kind to open in community hubs across Leeds and gives local people the opportunity to borrow a bike. The scheme is completely free and aims to encourage people who may not otherwise have access to a bike to give it a go and discover the health benefits and fun that cycling can bring.

Bramley ward members Caroline Gruen, Jools Heselwood and Kevin Ritchie were on hand to open the facilities and hope that the scheme in Bramley will prove just as successful as it has been in other parts of the city, including Middleton, Armley, Beeston, Harehills and Seacroft.

Councillor Caroline Gruen (Labour, Bramley and Stanningley) said:

“We have already made thousands of bike loans to people within the city’s communities who wouldn’t normally have access to a bike and I am pleased that Bramley residents will now be offered the same opportunity. This is a free scheme with enormous health and social benefits and I look forward to the Bramley Bike Library giving local people the chance to participate in cycling who might not have done so previously.”
